#Hello June - Monthly Goals

The first half of 2018 is coming to an end.

Long time no post! (at least not a real post, there has been giveaways) I have been a bit busy and my head is spinning in all directions. I have gotten to the point where I am feeling overwhelmed. With so much to do and only 24 hours in a day, I am doing my best.

In April, I went to El Salvador for a week long mission trip (more on that later) and I have started to gear things up with my community organization (GURLSociety).

As I enter into June, here are my goals for the month:

Spiritual:
  • Read my Bible daily
  • Start a Gratitude Journal
Relationships:
  • Connect with one person (in-person)
  • Write a letter to someone
Health:
  • Lose 10 pounds
  • Get in 11,000 steps a day (Fitbit goal)
  • Increase my water intake
Financial:
  • Create a budget (and stick to it this time)
  • Create another source of income
  • Put $308 in my savings account (and keep it there 😏)
Professional:

I hope you all are being very productive and crushing those goals you set for yourself back in January. Things have been pretty chill for me (nothing new and exciting). I figured I would take this year and have more fun, more adventures, and just put myself out there (a little, not a whole lot).

  • Read my Bible daily
  • Start a Gratitude Journal
Family:
  • Read to my nephew each night
  • Go on a sister date
Health:
  • Lose 10 pounds
  • Get in 11,000 steps a day (Fitbit goal)
  • Increase my water intake
Financial:
  • Create a budget (and stick to it this time)
  • Create another source of income
  • Put $200 in my savings account (and keep it there 😏)

25 Ways to Practice Self-Love #BehindTheBlogger

With everything moving so fast around us it is often hard to find time for ourselves. Or we may be too busy taking care of everyone else. Nowadays, self-love is so important. Self-love is not selfish; you cannot truly love another until you know how to love yourself.

We are not good to anyone else if we are not being good to ourselves.

To a New Start. #BehindTheBlogger

With the new year comes a new start. New goals. New adventures. New relationships.

I want to do things different this year. I really want this to be a year filled with new beginnings. Like most I have pick my one word for the year, got a new planner (yes, I'm a planner addict), and have my list of books to read.

I have accepted the challenges and shake in fear for stepping out of my comfort zone. But this is what new beginnings are all about. Right? (I hope so)

I want to end this year saying that I have tried new things, and made new memories. Not the same boring stuff year after year. My days consist of work and my weekends consist of sleep. For some that may be great, but I am ready for something new. (it doesn’t have to be too exciting)

Here's to a new start. New beginnings. I hope 2017 to be the best yet with more than I can imagine. I hope you feel the same way to, so we can be in this together.

Are you with me?

Thankful. Grateful. Blessed.

With November comes the season of thankfulness. We often send time thinking of what or who we are thankful for and giving to others.
I think these actions are important, reflection and giving, but they are something we should be doing every day of the year and not just during the month of November.

Daily I am thankful for being able to start a new day, something many of us take for granted.

Daily I am grateful for those that are apart of my life. they help me to be the person I am today.

Daily I know I am blessed. Just looking at where I was and I am now, there is no other explanation.

Always remember:
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV

Getting ready for 2016 #Intentional #OneWord365

As you may or may not know I gave up on new year's resolution a long time ago. I was never able to keep them or remember what they were and when I did remember about my resolutions it would already be time to make new ones.
A few years ago I was introduced to the concepts of picking just one word to focus on.
This works a lot better for me.

My word for 2016 is Intentional.

Intentional
[in-ten-shuh-nl]

adjective
1. done with intention or on purpose; intended: an intentional insult.
2. of or relating to intention or purpose.
3. Metaphysics.
  1. pertaining to an appearance, phenomenon, or representation in the mind; phenomenal; representational.
  2. pertaining to the capacity of the mind to refer to an existent or nonexistent object.
  3. pointing beyond itself, as consciousness or a sign.

This is just not about having good intentions, but living intentionally and with a great purpose. I want to put meaning into everything I do and not waste one second of my life on things that are harmful to my well-being.

Join me in picking one word for 2016.

Tell me what your word is in the comments below.

No resolutions, just one word #faithful

I have given up on the whole New Year Resolution thing and like the one world a whole lot better. Last year my world was happiness. I wanted to focus on be happy and finding happiness in all that I do. It worked out better for me and helped me to stay positive throughout the year.

For 2015 my one word will be faithful.

faith·ful /ˈfāTHfəl/   adjective: faithful; plural noun: faithful
1. loyal, constant, and steadfast.
2. having a strong belief in a particular religion, especially Islam.
3. true to the facts or the original.

I want to focus on being more faithful in all aspects of my life. I want to be more faithful in my:

  • faith in God
  • weight loss [I am working on losing 95 lbs]
  • cultivating of my relationships with others
  •  relationship with myself

What is your one word for this year?

Happy National I Want You To Be Happy Day!

Celebrated annually on March 3rd, it is National I Want You To Be Happy Day.  It is an unselfish day, a day that encourages us to do something to make others happy.
Share a smile, share a laugh, pay a compliment, send some flowers, visit a friend or maybe make a phone call. It can actually be as simple as just  telling someone that you want them to be happy.
A few things that brings me happiness are:
  • Spending time outside
  • Helping others
  • Surrounding myself with happy people
  • Maintaining positive thoughts
  • Smiling
  • Watching funny movies
  • Listening to uplifting music
  • Reading inspiring books

What brings happiness to your life?
Have a good day and, I want you to be happy!
